Using Practice and Test-Centre Routes

LessonBuddy separates routes you record during lessons from shared test-centre style routes. Both are available from Recorded & Test Routes.

Enable automatic route recording

1. Open Settings → Route Recording.
2. Turn on Record routes during lessons.
3. Allow the location access requested by your device.
4. Open LessonBuddy before teaching so the background service can start.

When enabled, LessonBuddy saves GPS points during scheduled lesson times and associates the route with the pupil.

Browse recorded practice routes

Open Recorded & Test Routes. The screen opens on Practice Routes.

You can:

• Open a route to review its map.
• Navigate the route again.
• Use Record a Route for a manual recording.
• Open All Recorded Routes from Route Recording settings.
• View routes for one pupil from their Routes tab when the feature is enabled.

Delete a route only when you no longer need it; deletion cannot be undone.

Browse test-centre routes

1. Open Recorded & Test Routes.
2. Select the Test Routes tab.
3. Search for a test centre or choose a favourite.
4. Open the centre to see available routes.
5. Tap a route to preview and start navigation.

If a centre has no route, instructors can send a route request. The request shows Pending until an admin responds.

Track an attempt for a pupil

Before starting a test route:

1. Expand Track for student.
2. Search for and select the pupil.
3. Confirm that the screen says Tracking for the correct name.
4. Start navigation.

The pupil's Routes → Test Routes view then shows route, attempt and test-centre totals.

Tracking is optional. Navigation still starts with no pupil selected, but no attempt is counted. Attempts are recorded when navigation starts from the phone app with a selected pupil; starting from CarPlay or Android Auto does not currently add an attempt.

Submit a recorded route for review

Open a recorded route and choose Submit as Test Route. Select the correct test centre and confirm. The route shows Pending Review, Live as Test Route or a rejection state after moderation.

In-car use and safety

Favourite centres selected on the phone can sync to CarPlay and Android Auto for instructors. Open LessonBuddy on the phone while signed in to refresh routes and account access.

Grant permissions while parked and follow the car system's safety restrictions. Route availability and navigation also depend on sufficient GPS points and a compatible native build.
