Reflection logs keep the outcome of each lesson in one structured record. Instructors can keep a log private or share it so the pupil can review, edit and sign it off.
Choose the default sharing behaviour
- Open Settings → Reflection Log Settings.
- Find Auto-share reflection logs.
- Turn it on if new logs should be shared automatically, or off if they should start private.
- Tap Save Settings.
Auto-share is recommended when you want pupils to take part in reflection after every lesson. You can still change sharing on an individual log.
Open a pupil's reflection logs
- Open Students and select the pupil.
- Open Logs.
- Select Reflection Logs rather than Private Practice.
- Tap a lesson to open its Reflection log.
New lessons receive an empty reflection log automatically.
Complete the reflection
Use the fields that are relevant:
- Goals covered
- What went well
- What to improve
- Risks / near-misses
- Action plan / homework
- Next lesson focus
- Self-assessment (1–5)
Tap Save log after making changes. The list shows Complete, Partial or Outstanding to help you find unfinished records.
Share or keep private
Use Share with student in the log:
- On: the pupil can view and edit the log.
- Off: the log stays private to the instructor.
The list also shows Shared or Private chips that can be used to change access quickly.
Pupil workflow
The pupil opens Reflection Logs from their drawer and selects a shared log. They can add to the same reflection fields, choose Save Draft, and complete the sign-off flow when ready.
Private logs do not appear in the pupil app.
Good reflection practice
- Keep notes factual and relevant to the lesson.
- Agree one or two clear actions rather than a long task list.
- Use Next lesson focus to make planning faster.
- Record risks and near-misses in neutral, constructive language.
- Check sharing before writing information that should remain instructor-only.
- Review outstanding logs regularly so pupils receive feedback while the lesson is still fresh.
