The Progress tab gives each pupil a clear record of the driving skills they have covered and how independently they can perform them.
Understand the five levels
LessonBuddy uses these exact progress levels:
- Introduced
- Full Talkthrough
- Prompted
- Seldom Prompted
- Independent
The Test Standard Progress bar shows how many configured subjects are currently marked Independent.
Rate a pupil
- Open Students and select the pupil.
- Open the Progress tab.
- Find the relevant category and subject.
- Tap a level from 1 to 5.
- Add a subject note if useful.
- Tap Save.
Tap the selected number again if you need to clear an incorrect rating.
Focus your review
Use the filters at the top of the Progress tab:
- All shows every visible subject.
- Unassessed shows subjects without a level.
- Focus Areas shows subjects currently rated from 1 to 4.
This makes it easier to plan the next lesson around skills that still need support.
Add subject notes
Open Subject Notes for a skill and choose New Note. Use notes for specific observations, agreed practice or context behind a rating. Previous Notes keeps the history available for later lessons.
Customise the progress template
Open Settings → Progress Template, or tap Edit Subjects / Categories from a pupil's Progress tab.
You can:
- Add your own categories and subjects.
- Reorder the structure to match your teaching syllabus.
- Hide default subjects you do not use.
- Control whether pupils can see and earn achievements.
Default subjects are hidden rather than permanently deleted.
What pupils and parents see
Pupils open My Progress. Linked parents see My Child's Progress. They can review current levels, read the key for each level and see achievements when you have enabled them.
Good progress-recording practice
- Update ratings after relevant lessons rather than changing every subject each time.
- Use the five labels consistently across all pupils.
- Add a short note when the reason for a rating may not be obvious later.
- Review Focus Areas before planning the next lesson.
- Avoid marking a skill Independent until the pupil performs it consistently without help.
