Calendar Sync keeps LessonBuddy lessons alongside the diary you already use. Instructors can connect Google Calendar or Apple Calendar through iCloud.
Open Calendar Sync
Go to Settings → Calendar Sync. Each connected calendar has its own sync status and controls.
Connect Google Calendar
- Select Google Calendar.
- Tap Connect via OAuth.
- Sign in to the Google account that owns the calendar.
- Review and approve the requested calendar access.
- Return to LessonBuddy and confirm that the connection is enabled.
Connect Apple Calendar
Apple Calendar uses your iCloud calendar account:
- Select Apple Calendar (iCloud).
- Open Connect Apple Calendar.
- Enter your iCloud email address.
- Enter an Apple app-specific password, not your normal Apple ID password.
- Choose the calendar when the picker is offered.
- Save the connection.
Create app-specific passwords from your Apple ID security settings. If Apple rejects the password, generate a new one and try again.
Manage a connected calendar
For each connection you can:
- Turn Sync Enabled on or off.
- Tap Sync Now to request an immediate refresh.
- Tap Disconnect to remove the connection.
When disconnecting, choose whether to Keep External Events or Delete External Events from LessonBuddy.
How synced events appear
LessonBuddy lessons can be added to the connected calendar, while external events appear in the LessonBuddy Schedule so you can avoid clashes. Sync runs automatically and can also react to calendar updates.
External events are view-only in LessonBuddy. Edit or delete those events in Google Calendar or Apple Calendar, then sync again.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm Sync Enabled is on for the correct calendar.
- Use Sync Now after making a change externally.
- Reconnect if the account password, permission or calendar access has changed.
- For Apple, use an app-specific password.
- Check that you are viewing the correct date range and external calendar.
- Avoid creating a second manual event for a lesson that is already synced.
